Uninsured motorist coverage is coverage a plaintiff can use when an at-fault driver does not have any liability insurance coverage. Underinsured motorist coverage is insurance a plaintiff can utilize when the at-fault driver does have liability insurance coverage, but the amount of his coverage is insufficient to compensation you for your injuries. Both these types of insurance coverages are referred to UM insurance. UM insurance can also be used in a hit and run accident where the at-fault driver flees the scene of the accident. Also, some forms of Um insurance are “stackable”. This means that you may stack multiple UM insurance policies to achieve a higher total amount of UM coverage.

In the state of Georgia, all Insurance companies are required to offer UM insurance coverage. If you decide to reject UM coverage, it must be rejected in writing with your signature. A verbal rejection of UM coverage is not sufficient. An attorney can investigate to determine whether you have UM coverage on your insurance policy. Some people neglect to utilize this coverage, and our office will ensure that you utilize all available insurance coverage for your claims
